Meet Our Intern!

We’re pleased to introduce our intern, Emily Hobbet.

Emily grew up in Holly Springs, North Carolina and is currently a senior at Campbell University, where she is majoring in history.  From an early age, she developed a strong interest in learning about the lives of those who came before us.  Having been homeschooled from Pre-K through 12th grade, she discovered that one of her favorite parts of school was studying the stories and experiences of past generations.

That passion for history has continued to grow and has led her to pursue a future in preserving and sharing historical knowledge.  Emily believes history is important because it helps us understand not only the challenges our ancestors faced, but also the world around us today.  Protecting and conserving those stories is something she cares deeply about.

Emily also has a passion for helping younger generations appreciate the value of history.  She believes there is so much we can learn from the past, but if it is not preserved and shared, that knowledge can easily be lost.  During her internship with the Erwin Historical Society and Museum, she is gaining hands-on experience while helping us continue our mission of preserving and sharing the history of our community.

After graduating, Emily plans to apply to a Master of Library Science program with the goal of focusing on archival work.  She hopes the experience she gains during her time with us will help prepare her for that next step.

We are grateful to have Emily working with us this season and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes in the future.
