The Life and Work of Beloved Historian Malcolm Fowler
Join us for an evening of local history as we continue our series leading up to Erwin’s 100th birthday celebration!
This program will focus on Malcolm Fowler, one of Harnett County’s most respected historians. Known for his incredible knowledge of the area, Fowler spent his life collecting and preserving the stories of our community.
We’ll be sharing both his story and a look inside the Malcolm Fowler Collection, recently donated to the Erwin Historical Society. The collection includes everything from family genealogies and church histories to Civil War materials, early land grants, and records dating back to the 1700s. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the people and events that shaped Harnett County.
Local historian Joey Powell will speak about Fowler’s life and personality, and our intern Emily Hobbet will give an inside look at the collection and why it matters today.
If you’ve ever been curious about local history, your family roots, or just want to learn something new about the area, this is a great chance to come out and be part of it.
